Another attempt for a Sweet Dee vehicle. I’ll watch.

Watched the pilot & e2. I’m a huge fan of Kaitlin Olsen from IASiP and I enjoyed her in The Mick. Both this show and The Mick were designed specifically as vehicles for her to take center stage. While I enjoyed it, ultimately TM was flawed in that it just couldn’t strike up a chemistry. It was cancelled on a cliffhanger. I know I have odd tastes - it was really all about my Kaitlin obsession.

This show may suffer a similar fate. Based on a French show, Morgan (Kaitlin) is an intellectually high performance person with a photographic memory, a single mom with 3 kids, and a janitor. While cleaning the police station, she solves a murder because her mind is so acute that she sees things that the cops don’t. It’s a police procedural with Morgan putting together all the clues with absurd observations and facts. She’s pushy and dresses provocatively. It all hinges on this unbelievable character. Her claw is that she’s obsessive about fixing things, which isn’t really a flaw. There’s a skeptical cop partner, a tough but tender hearted police chief, an ex and a neighbor who looks after her kids, a baby, a boy who has inherited his mom’s genius, and a rebellious teen daughter, plus a husband that abandoned the eldest daughter… or did he?

It’s all very formulaic making the cast chemistry stilted. Kaitlin is hawt, wise cracking because she’s just smarter than everyone else, impulsive and broken. There are moments when she shows her acting range, but it doesn’t come together as a whole. Morgan is just too unbelievably - someone that smart and hawt would be more ahead of the game before bursting on to her police consultant role. 

It’s sad because Kaitlin is solid in what she’s doing with it but it just doesn’t come together. Maybe it gets better but my Peacock subscription is about to expire so I probably won’t watch more. We traded peacock for Hulu. Sorry Kaitlin.
