Red Band trailer

This was quite good, surprisingly good, assuming you luv your ultravi like I do. It had me at Yayan Ruhian as the Shaman, who I forgot was in this. His part starts out caricature, but then turns quite deep and he shows he actually act a little bit. And then it includes two of my favorite brunettes, Famke Janssen & Michelle Dockery, as well as Andrew Koji, all in over the top roles. Skarsgard is quite good in this, again surprisingly so.

It's a dystopian future. Skarsgard is a deaf mute, trained from childhood to take vengeance on the murder of his family by a tyrannical Famke and her psycho family. It's not something to think too hard about. It's all about the ultravi. It's very tongue in cheek - we hear the inner dialogue of Skarsgard's 'boy' character as he dips in and out of hallucinations and tries to sort his lip reading issues. Several moments were quite funny. Several moments were maximally sanguineous. And the choreo was solid, ultra brutal, and downright hardcore at points. Luved it.

And there was a twist that totally blindsided me, mostly because I had written this off as a gratuitous ultravi flick, but in fact, it had some thought behind it.

Mind you, I watched this on my laptop between O'Hare & SFO. And it was turbulent so that might have affected my judgement. But I give it a hearty thumbs up.

D00M recommended, as long as you can take a lot of sanguineous ultravi, like gallons of it splashed on your face repeatedly.
