Yesterday I enjoyed a pleasant hike near the bossmang's home out to some pond near to a granite quarry. Then we had salmonfish sammiches (leftover salmon made into a sammich spread) and went to his friend's house to see if we could start his snow ATV (we could not). The sun peeked out just in time and we went on an hour & a half ride on his jet ski. Lake Winnipausukitgreg is much larger than I thought, or at least it seemed so as we zig zagged across it on that tiny vehicle. It was thrilling - never been on a jet ski before. Top speed was 40 mph but it felt like 60. And negotiating the waves from the wakes of other boats was like riding a bucking bronco (haven't done that either but I'm projecting). I'm still saddle sore. We had grilled swordfish steaks for dinner. Swordfish for the swordspeople.
I'm now at MHT, a teeny airport with tractors and moose scupltures on display and only one terminal. Flights are on time. I only have a short layover at ORD so it'll be a bit of a dash to get to my next gate. Hoping that there's a Garrett's popcorn stall otw.
I think I'm the only POC at this airport. Consequently, I was the only person told to take off my shoes at TSA. Whatev, man, whatev... At least the agents asked nicely, saying some bs that the other passengers were older so they had the priviledge, but that was clearly not the case as there were some others allowed to keep their shoes on that were in their 20s. I look forward to seeing diversity again at O'Hare.
There's a T-shirt stand in front of me that's Harris on one side, and that other dude on the other. On the whole, the tRumpers seemed about even with the Harris supporters with the yard signs. Everyone posts signs that are the same size, fairly small like a horizontal mini-poster. I haven't seen anyone flying colors for either side with their attire.
It was a good trip overall. I had my trepidations - worried that we all might hate each other but everyone was so very welcoming. They all do tend to dominate the conversations but that was fine - it let me sit back and listen to where everyone was coming from. And the food and lodgings were exemplary.
