I’ve often said that if I ever go back to PRC, I’m going to retrain myself to eat meat. It will make travel much easier plus there’s this delicacy in the Shaolin region - a Hui (Muslim) mutton stew - that’s one of the most delicious things that I’ve ever eaten.
I know, I know, it’s an oxymoron to return to meat eating to go to the temple that’s the birthplace of zen, but such is Shaolin I suppose.
I’ve been pescatarian for nearly 20 years now I think. I’m not exactly sure how long it’s been. I stopped eating meat after a retreat to Tassajara but I didn’t make a mental note of the year.
Is there a bacon cheeseburger in my future?
