It's rumored to be a sequel to Concrete Utopia, S. Korea's foreign film submission to the Oscars (didn't make the cut). I really want to see that. It's got a similar premise - mega-quake destroys Seoul and the story is post-apocalypse. Plus it's from the same studio. Even Wikipedia says it's a sequel.
But the filmmakers say it's completely original.
It's not.
It's more of a rip off. But it goes somewhere different. It's really just an action film, loosely echoing some popular tropes in K-cinema. If you don't know K-cinema, it may come off more original. Mostly it's mighty Don Lee punching the crap out of a lot of hooligans. And that's fine entertainment in my book.
Y'all gotta get on the Don Lee train. He's a fun action hero. Burly brutal fun. This is an ok place to get on board.
