There’s your problem right there. Who wastes time thinking in a Chris Hemsworth flick? That’s dumb.
That 21 min oner was bad ass, man. So intense. Swirling cinematography and fight choreo. A freakin masterpiece of mayhem. I was fully engaged for it. Clever action throughout and the way it built up was staggering. The prison yard fight alone was incredible and that only the middle of it.
But when it ended, holy cats, there was another hour of movie to go. How could they top that? There’s some extreme fire fights in a glass high rise - and that was good ultravi no doubt but it pales by comparison. And then there was yet another finale fight, which was also good but weaker than the first two action sequences. So it was an action film of diminishing returns.
I too liked Nik & Yaz, and was amused by the constant Thor references within the action sequences. But in the end, I’ll agree with Greg. It was fine. Had they reversed to order of the action, this would’ve been much improved. It just needs to be recut with the finale fight first, then the rest told backwards in flashbacks.
That oner was great tho. There were clever digital stitches but overall, the flow of the fights were coherent and thrilling. Very impressive. I may have to rewatch just that part (Narrator’s voice: I’m not going to rewatch that part).
Recommended for D00M ultravi and oner fans. But don’t think. That’ll spoil it.
I confess that I did think about how good the bulletproof body armor was and why didn’t they give the mom and kids some bulletproof vests, but I quickly dismissed that thought once I realized that they were naturally immune to the constant hailstorm of bullets. Sometimes some characters are just that way somehow. Don’t think. No thinking allowed here. Don’t ruin it for yourself with thinkn.
