SCPD has received confirmed sightings of a mountain lion in our community. Yesterday, the pictured mountain lion was lying on the fence line between an office building and the apartment complex in the 700 block of Frederick Street. [/color][color=var(--primary-text)]Police officers thoroughly checked the area and will continue to partner with the [color=var(--accent)]California Department of Fish and Wildlife[/color] as we work towards a safe capture and relocation effort. We want the public to be made aware to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors.[/color][color=var(--primary-text)]It’s important to remember that many areas of our city are bordered by parks and open spaces that are home to all kinds of wildlife, including mountain lions. Do not feed wildlife; feeding prey invites predators. Remove any water sources.[/color][color=var(--primary-text)]If you come in contact with a mountain lion, back away slowly, be large, shout, and keep children close. [/color][color=var(--primary-text)]If you see a mountain lion, please notify us at 9-1-1 with the location, description, and behavior.
