S3e1 starts out with a fine rumble. Hop Wei v Long Zii - the two leading tongs which means Koji v Taslim. Very satisfying. It digs right in to all the story arcs from the end of s2 as if there was no season break.
E2 shows Brett Chan (the 2nd unit director aka fight choreography) appearing as a rival tong head. More entanglements setting the tone of this season’s arcs. Some more fights but they’re a bit in the shadows obscuring the action. Lots of thrown axes & knifes. That’s come a long way with cgi.
E3 picks up the gay stories - Davenport & Ah Toy, Hong & a singer he picks up at a club. Lai comes into play - she’s the ultimate sword hawty but here she fights with sickles some more nice fights. Taslim can really move. Love seeing his work.
Max only gave me the first 3 eps. Wish there were more. I don’t have HBO max right now.
