A K-mash up of John Wick and Saving Face. A bit longer than it needs to be, but the action is good, juxtaposed with some moving mother/daughter drama.
Gil Boksoon is a middle aged single mom of a teen A grade assassin. She juggles her secret identity with her rebellious teen daughter who knows nothing of her mom’s career and amazingly is never used as a hostage.
This opens with a yakuza hit on a bridge contruction site that’s wakazashi v hatchet. The fights are few and far in between but when they go down, they are well worth the wait. Clever, complex, whirling cinematography, digi-blood - got a genuine chuckle at a knife throwing scene that had just a bit of Kung Fu Hustle knife throwing vibe (an homage almost). The assassins at the bar is great and even drew a solid chuckle.
D00M recommended especially if you like K-films.
