My mom went through a paranoid phase when she started to have her mental decline. (They avoid saying dementia, so they say "cognitive impairment.") That was just before she needed in home handlers.
I remember that I tried to tell her that she was having memory issues, and she replied that I thought she had Alzheimer's and she never wanted to see me again. For a while I was relieved; I thought I could relax. But then she called me about 20 times in one day to apologize, so I was back on the job.
