As I wait for the Author's guild to look over the contract, another publisher has stepped up. They are a hybrid model. They want me to pay to publish the book. I think I will pass on that but I am curious as to the costs so I've requested to see their contract.
The Author's Guild was a bit of a trip. You have to show you are a writer to get in the guild. Fortunately, I had a bunch of KFM articles I could point to to show my Bona Fides. In order to get the legal help, I had to sign up for two years. I think it's still cheaper than getting a lawyer.
