DMZ (2022)
#2
I have watched. I am unhappy I did. The Queen's first comment was "Why are we watching this?" I should have listened.

Rosario Dawson plays Alma. The show starts with her escaping from a battle in New York and becoming separated from her son. Then many years later she decides it is time to go back into New York to see if she can find her boy. Why did she wait? Don't know? What was the war? Don't know. What are the sides for the war? Don't know. Why has New York been designated a DMZ? Don't know. So much not knowing.

So, there is the Escape From New York element as Alma has to sneak into the city with a courier. She's given a time deadline to be back at the rendezvous or she will be locked out. Yay, ticking clock. Nothing says compelling story telling like a ticking clock. And they get to tells us how much longer she has left all the time to ratchet up suspense.

Naturally the DMZ is divided up into warring gangs, ala The Warriors only maybe not quite as colorful. There is a turf war going on to see who will control the city. Benjamin Bratt as Parco runs the most powerful faction and is looking to control the city. Parco has a right hand man named Skel who also does the enforcing. You'll never guess how these two are related to Alma. Okay, you will. I know I did.

It's all pretty much a mess with lots of not knowing. How is the power still on? How do they get food? Why are they in there and can't get out? Don't know.

Will I watch any more episodes? Don't know.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
