Matrix and Tron meet They Live in Ryan with a pg bubblegum ice cream feel. It was ok.
I did enjoy what Easter eggs I caught and some of the surprise cameos. The opening one-er was pretty wild.
Entertaining overall but I found myself questioning the parameters of the npcs and the gamers within the game. That didn’t quite work for me. I couldn’t suspend belief for long enough, which is odd because I’m usually happy to toss believe out the window if there’s decent action and effects.
Taika does good caricature villains. I wonder if he’s that sarcastic when directing.
I’m not a fan of Ryan, in fact he kids bugs me, so I didn’t love it as much as Greg. I don’t feel I need to see it again and am pleased I saw it on Disney+ instead of the theater.
