Maybe just swap one of the still-good side doors for the brutalized kitchen door?

Hah!  I had that thought, and I acted on it.  There's a storm door on the studio, and it won't even close anymore.  Because the studio was built without a foundation, it's settled in odd ways.  That storm door clobbers the concrete in the breezeway if I try to close it.  And that doorway is so out of square that I've had to adjust the main door hinges multiple times and now it's down to hanging by a single hinge, and just barely fitting -- sort of.  Gotta be careful nursing it open.

But that storm door.  I just took it off and disassembled it down to the screen.  I couldn't use the door directly because it opens the wrong way.

So now I just have to disassemble the bad kitchen storm door and substitute the good screen for the bad.  A screen will at least keep rain from hitting the door.

Dusk and sprinkles stopped me.  Might have to wait a couple days to resume.  You might say I'm between doors right now.  And I'm anxious for my screen test.

As for DM's back door, I'm reminded of Winchester Mystery House, where bannisters or doors of rare and fancy-grained wood (walnut?) were painted over with some plain color, and the tour guide felt that the widow had instructed the workers to do this on purpose -- as a nonsensical oddity.
