I'm more broken than you
Once again, gravity has reached up and wrapped me in her rough embrace. Yes. Once again you could have found me on the ground this morning. Look, I do get strange dizzy spells where it feels like my whole brain has been rung, but it's not that. It's just gravity being a dick. With an assist from friction.

I'm out with the dogs. It's dark. I'm thinking the deep thought about Yosemite and how to make that knowledge into a documentary. I'm on the road around my house. The dogs are off doing what dogs do because I've let them off the leash. I'm on a the gravel covered section of the road just past the point where the tarmac ends. I feel my feet slip. Time has slowed. My brain struggles to come up with options to save us from the ground but I can feel I'm already too far past the point of no return. My center of gravity is heading for the ground. I feel my right knee drive into the gravel ground. My left palm has taken some of the force of the rapid descent. Just like that, I'm on my back looking at Orion. Son of a bitch.

Oddly, I started the day with a twinge in the left knee. That knee wasn't feeling right. It didn't want to move. Now, that I've driven my right knee into the rocks, the left knee feels great in comparison. I really wish I hadn't slipped the dogs off the leash so early, because then I good have said they had dragged me down in their pursuit of some shadow in the bushes. Nope. And they never came to check on me on the ground either. I would think my fall would warrant a courtesy sniff of concern. Nothing. Later Maeve did show and point out my reflector band I wear on my hat was now on the ground.

I dusted myself off and assayed the damage. In the dim light from the crescent moon, I couldn't see any blood. It didn't feel too bad so I continued my walk. I walked for another half hour or so. By the time of the end of the walk, the adrenaline was gone and the knee was giving me some feels. In the bathroom, I could see I had nice bit of road rash. Nothing spectacular though. Nothing to get oohs and ahs and questions of "What Happened!?!?" Just a golfball size patch of scratches.

In the betting for who is going to break their hip first, it has to be me with the best odds, right?
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
