2 eps deep in the original anime. It certainly has style. It’s a fine mash-up of sci-fi, westerns, & anime with a driving jazz ska beat. It feels a little dated now but I imagine that back in 98 it was cutting edge.
I’m not feeling the martial arts of it. There was a funny nunchuck bit in ep2, plus a Bruce Lee billboard and a corgi-napper named Hakim like Jabbar in Game of Death. But it’s more about gun play so far.
It has a post-apocalyptic ghetto feel, like Bladerunner, something now done to death in anime. There’s humorous bits and lots of nasty public toilets so far.
A rogue bounty hunter tale. Cho will be able to nail Spike as long as he’s given the leeway. If the effects are up to snuff, this should make for a fine live action.
It’s not blowing me away but I'm not bored either. It is interesting from a historical anime perspective. Will keep watching.
