Dune (again)
#10
Not reading any of this. Don't want no spoilers. I can't really remember the book that well, just the banquet scene and the hand in the box, and a few other things.

One of my classmates at the academy is a huge fan. He shares a birthday with Herbert and has re-read the original every year since high school (he's in his 30s). He saw it on the big screen and again on HBO. He loves it.

But here's a crappy version of the article I would've written for KFM to get into that screener that I wasn't invited to: https://screenrant.com/dune-swords-no-gu...explained/

I haven't read this either. But I can guess that the author is headed where I planned to go to give it the martial spin for KFM. I think Roger Yuan was the choreographer and I would've blathered on about him. I've always thought that the force field suits were brilliant, a way to introduce sword play into space. But then again, projectile weapons would be no good on space ships because you don't want to blow a hole in the hull. That was depicted well in Outland, but no one has picked up on it. Swords in space I tell you. Machete in Space was prophesy, or at least it will be if it ever gets made.

Not sure when I'll get around to this. Don't have HBO and probably won't get out to the theaters for weeks...
