So, yes. I drove to Los Angeles on Sunday and then home again. All on Sunday. I kept getting posts from the 6th Street Viaduct Facebook Group (I know. Check the title of this thread) showing how much progress they were making on the Viaduct. I knew the gaps in the recordings were going to be big. The sooner I went the better. The only problem was having to do an 81/2 drive to assuage the madness, at least for a bit. I finally talked myself into making the journey. I split up the journey by having lunch with Lyndell.

I left at 4 and arrived in Los Angeles at about 8:15. The bridge builder had been busy. Plus they had 14 months to do stuff. The train yard was full of cars so I had to do a lot of scrambling to get to my usual locations. Some of the locations were now completely unusable because the bridge covers them. They had security guards out and about because I think the bridge crews were supposed to be working. Although, I didn't seen anybody working but the security guards. The garment sweatshops were in operation, though.

Some of the murals I'd been photographing, particularly, Mighty Mouse were gone. But Rihanna still holds pride of place. There is a lot more structures to avoid while flying the drone so I was extra nervous. They new arches also blocked my view of the High Voltage wires, which are everywhere. Only some of my sweat came from the heat. Most came from fear of losing the drone.

I filmed for about two and a half hours. On two occasions the drone controller screamed at me to say my batteries were running out of juice. As usual I pushed it to get one more shot. I need to get back again sooner rather than later. It was fun to go back to the old haunts. Hopefully the bridge won't be completely covered in graffiti by the time it is complete.
