I did get the catheter removed after a week. It was fairly simple. The nurse told me to take a deep breath, then let it out slowly. As I did so, she pulled out the tube. Hardly noticed. This was after she'd filled my bladder for a void test. I was left alone to pee in a container. But I didn't produce near the amount she introduced. So I'm not coming close to emptying, and I've been seeing a urologist and trying different medicines and dosages to improve matters -- but without any change.
Essentially, during the night, I have to get up every hour-and-a-half to two hours. I think I did some significant damage to the bladder after that first operation. Not that the urologist is saying this. He's confident we can get things straightened out, and without another catheter dance, and his focus is relaxing the prostate.
But I won't see him again until early September.
And the Falcon 9 launch I've been invited to see is Sept. 15 in Florida. That trip is looking so unlikely -- what with hurricanes and a sociopathic governor and now this pisser of a situation.
That's where things stand right now.
Eventually I have an anecdote to share. But maybe I'll wait for a better time.
