Just to prep you, this is actually me. I went to a theater and saw Free Guy and I enjoyed it. Yep. I'm two for two for enjoying movies I've seen in theaters. Maybe it's the theater experience that is making me soft?
Ryan Reynolds again plays Ryan Reynolds as quip laden character in an action packed world. Actually, Ryan plays a non-player character in an open ended video game world loosely modeled on Grand Theft Auto. Ryan plays Blue Shirt Guy who works at a bank that gets robbed every day. His best friend is a security guard at the same bank. Everything is upended when Guy breaks his routine because he wants to talk to a girl who he seems to have fallen in love with. Hijinks ensue as Guy experiences the world around him for the first time.
But it's more than that and much more than I expected. And it's funny. The action is great. Much like Ready Player One (which wasn't that great, but) it's going to take multiple viewings to see all the different events and scenes happening around guy. But it doesn't matter if you catch the Easter Eggs or not (I did see a Deadpool poster in one players bedroom) because the story is involving.
But it is very Ryan Reynolds sense of humor. And there is his Voice Over narration which sounds so much like Deadpool but I let it slide because I go easy on movies.
Lots of spoilers could be said, but I won't. I am ready to watch this again.
