Black Widow (2021)

I think you are mixing your metaverses.

That was the point. My attempt at comics humor. 

Black Widow was okay. The action sequences were plentiful and hard hitting. It moved along at a steady clip, and got painfully absurd with the CGI physics towards the end, typical of the MCU.

ScarJo is great in the role, although she seemed a bit subdued being the center of it all. Usually she has the boys to banter with, but here she had her dysfunctional mole family, which worked early in the film, but then fell somewhat to the wayside as the action mounted. 

The Russian accents, or flailing attempts to mimic them, kept pulling me out. Natasha's rusky 'fam' were all terrible at faking those accents, dropping out of them at key points and totally breaking any illusion. It got so bad that I contemplated switching it to Spanish and subtitles but then I'd lose ScarJo's husky voice, and I'm a sucker for husky voiced actresses. Besides, I'm not sure the version I watched even had that function. 

It was enjoyable over all but it didn't move me. It did get a giggle out of me early on, but I forget why now.

The end of credits scene was a total set up for the next series. It's the one that I'm least intrigued by, but all three series so far have been good, so I'll definitely watch it. 

While writing my Snake Eyes feature, I wanted to make a comment about Black Widow and sword fights, so I texted Tara and Patrick to ask if there were any. They both said 'no' but their totally were. The Red Guardian pulls out some sort of machete in the bridge fight, and later, there's another similar one in another fight. But I worked around it for my article. 

DOOM recommended if you're a DOOMer that's into the MCU. I think it stands alone as a decent actioner too.
