P2E3-E5 (finale): Satisfying. Lots of gratuitous Paris including many places on the banks of the Seine where I know I've walked, plus a section of the Orsay that I totally recognized. Luv that.
I am very pleased that my Den featured nailed a lot of Easter eggs in this season. I pitched that blind way back when S1 came out. Den was into it once it became Netflix's top non-English show, but told me they'd want it when part 2 came around. I forgot about it but they tapped me when the date was announced and I put it together on the side. There was a lot of research and I was guessing blind on some of it having not read all the books, just one, and not seen the dozens of versions (I chased down clips and such).
It struck me that it's parallel to Money Heist (Netflix's #2 non-English show). It's about thief heroes, and when a scene plays out, there's a flashback to a week or so earlier when it was being planned and the level of the deception gets revealed. There's a psych chess game between Diop and Pelligrini akin to the Professor and the inspectors who pursue him. Both are really absurd, yet engrossing with cliffhangers and plot twists. There's a lot of darting back and forth in time, and the backstories of the characters play in nicely. It's the new formula for international series.
The season finale provides closure on this story arc. There is no dangling cliffhanger but like a Bond flick, it ends with the promise that Lupin will be back.
DOOM recommended especially for those of us Francophiles that have been to Paris.
