Sorry for the confusion about that Sharon Stone reference. There's some bavckground on that scene that's little known. When Verhoeven filmed it, he made a freshman film mistake. In fact, he considers it the biggest mistake of his career. He got his bearings wrong and had her cross her legs one way. Later on, he realized it didn't edit properly with the surrounding scenes. Sharon wasn't available by then for a reshoot, so he reshot the surrounding scenes to accommodate the mistake. He went through a couple million dollars with that, but it still didn't work. So at last he swallowed his pride and did something he swore never to do. He fixed it in post by mirroring the Sharon footage.
It's hard to detect. You have to play the leg-crossing scene in ultra slomo. But if you have a sharp enough eye, you'll notice that Sharon's license plate is backwards.
