File under: Benjamin Wisdom.
So, it's a Saturday, and I'm at work all day & most of the night. As I was handing off Ben to Grandma this morning (Shosh had a class) he was doing 'pretend'. We'd been outside by the fish pond and he had told Grandma that one of the fish, Little Whitey, had died. Grandma followed up with 'well, that's what happens. Things live and then they die.' I stepped out to pack some things. When I came back, Grandma had a strange look on her face. I asked what was up, and Benjamin answered, "We're pretending you died."
"Well, I'm glad I didn't." I reply
"What would you wish for in heaven?" Ben asked.
"I don't know," I said. "What would you wish for?"
Without hesitating, Ben said, "Ice cream and Donuts."
I think my son has a very firm grasp of the metaphysical. I can only hope I get to go to his heaven.
