The positive outcome of the fires has been that we had a great visit with Tara. Yesterday after Birdrock (highly recommended caffeine dispensary if you're ever in SD here, btw) we found a bench overlooking the sea and had some real quality time. Then we picked up lunch at Plant Power, which is this veg take on in-and-out that is superb, and hung out at their apt watching Dr. Who. We took a break, then came back for dinner, which Tara cooked (mapo tofu) and watched some Down to Earth with Zac Efron, which totally re-frames him as an engaged environmental activist. It got past Stacy's bedtime so I dropped her and Yuki back at the hotel (which is only 3 blocks away - walkable but we never bothered) and returned to geek out with Tara about the geek stuff we both follow, mostly ATLA. She showed me a lot of tiktok vids and some youtube stuff. We watched the DC fandome trailers. It was really good to reconnect.

Stacy went on her coffee breaky run, and to get Yuki to a dog park to get him some running amuck time before the long road home. We'll probably leave in an hour or so. We're packed complete with road snacks and a tank of gas.
