Legacies of The Drunken Master: Politics of the Body In Hong Kong Kung Fu Comedy Films (2020) by Luke White

That's the full title and author, which wouldn't fit in the subject line.

No, I have not read this.  I just learned of its existence.  I'm exploring the best way to get a copy.  Consider this a placeholder.

(I was searching for "Pasolini martial arts" after reading that Pasolini was supposedly a "Karate expert," and the author discusses Pasolini and his works in this -- though not certain it touches on his martial arts.  Who woulda thunk?)

Quote:Theoretically rich and critical, Legacies of the Drunken Master aims to be at the forefront of scholarship on martial arts cinema. It also addresses readers with a broader interest in Hong Kong culture and politics during the 1970s and 1980s, postcolonialism in East Asia, and action and comedy films in a global context—as well as those fascinated with the performing body in the martial arts.

From what I've glimpsed, it's a densely scholarly work.
