Bennet Irving is a passer by on the street when Tiny Tim says 'god bless us'. He never shared in any good fortune after Scrooge's conversion, and went on living his dreadful life until he died of black lung from all the coal burning. His descendants didn't do any better and wound up slinging knockoff shoes to make ends meet.
