DONE
S8E6 was the finale. s8e7 is a making of which I'll watch at some later date.
The final season wasn't so bad, but I was warned so I had prepared for a lot worse. The finale ep was okay. Hard to wind it down after everything that happened. Turned out to be mostly about Jon Snow, my least favorite character. And Sam is the self portrait of George R.R., in the same way that Bilbo becomes J.R.R., writing the book at the end. I kinda saw that from the beginning. It's mostly about the heroines tho - Arya, Sansa, Dani, Circe, and Bryn. Those characters are really stand out. And of course, there's Tyrion.
All told, it's a pretty satisfying ride. I get GoT and why it is such a phenom. I'd advise skimming the first few seasons and really starting to dial in around mid season 5. Season 6 & 7 are amazeballs. Someday I might go back for Season 1, just to watch for foreshadowing.
If you just want to fast forward to the fight scene, check S6e9 the Battle of the Bastards. Even out of context, that's a masterpiece of choreo.
And in the end, it's all about Needle's journey for me.
