Hail Verve! HAIL!

So earlier this week, when I was at my mom's, Stacy woke up to fire engine sirens.  She got up and walked to Verve at daybreak, as is her habit, and it was Verve.  One of the roasters got overloaded and burst into flame.  Verve has been growing exponentially, opening new outlets in Palo and Tokyo, and moving so much bean that they had to rent another roastery's roaster recently to keep up with the demand.  They just launched a very pricey instant that is so wildly popular that it sold out immediately. Stacy was going to get some for Yose, but it's really expensive and unavailable. Fortunately, she's a regular there, and whilst the three fire engines were putting out the fire, a barista spotted her and comped her some coffee.  Because the fire engines used a spray retardant, Verve lost a whole batch of stored beans.  Clean up was still in progress this morning.  

The barista turnover has been rapid.  We love Verve for so many reasons, but they are going through growing pains now and that is affecting their local service.  So we're also patronizing Cat Cloud, and our new fav hipster cafe, 11th Hour, which is downtown (they make fancy avocado toast).
