I finally saw this and thoroughly enjoyed it. No, it’s not Gilliam’s best but he reminds me of Woody Allen now. He’s created his own unique genre and is only delivering average pieces, not masterworks anymore. Nevertheless they are still entertaining, preferable to the rest of the dreck out there. 

Damon was okay but immature (it’s an immature role). Heath was unremarkable and almost unrecognizable. Pryce still reminds me of ED, which only adds entetainment value because he’s the villain here, so in the back of my mind I’m always thinking ‘would ed have said that better? Why yes, I think he would’ve.’

I liked the overall twist on Grimm. I wouldn't have said it became a horror tale, more that it just got Grimm. Cheesey effects, especially the tar blob monster, but that Gilliam style still shines.  And there was even some sword fighting so it’s all good:
