Oh, I did that. Completely disassembled the trap. That portion was clear. The clog is past that. It starts in the wall maybe a foot in. I'm pulling up pitch black tar, perhaps the result of so many drain opener depth charges. I'm snaking the pipe after the trap. Come on now. I'm no plumber but it's not my first rodeo.
What puzzles me is that I got most of the snake in - it's not a long snake, maybe 10 ft, my dad's which I dug out of the garage last week. It gets past a sticky point and then screws in quite freely. So I figured I punched a hole through the clog. I did that a couple of times, reassembled the pipes under the sink, and then hit it with a liquid drain opener to open it up more, but when I went to flush it with hot water, well, that water is still standing there in the sink now.
After a couple of hours on my knees, I gave up. I'll try again next weekend maybe.
