I'm staying in Saratoga with my mother and sister Stephanie. Stephanie came down to fix mom.
Due to the damage caused by the flooding and the subsequent repair, my mother turned one of the rooms on the third floor into a guest bedroom complete with bed. If you know what my mother had done with the rest of the house you will know this a real improvement. Almost unheard.
It used to be Stephanie's old room but for some reason she opted to stay up stairs and sleep on the bad day bed. As opposed to sleeping on the bad sofa bed.
I was initially overjoyed to have this room with a bed and fresh paint and new carpet for my stay. But as I tried to get to sleep on Friday night, all I could think about was that I was sleeping my Dad's office where he spent most waking hours during the last fifteen years. But even better, it's the room where my grandfather died.
Sleep came hard as my mind wrestled with ghosts.
