I have a turntable in storage at my mom's place. It's got a laser-guided stylus and plays records vertically. The concept was that it had less wear on the vinyl and the needle, but I liked it because it was cool. The front panel lights up like a ST:NG bridge control panel, with lots of useless but pretty graphics. I dusted it off years ago because Tara was interested in it. A few of her friends had turntables. I told her she could have it along with my meager remaining vinyl collection if she could make the space for it in her room. Unfortunately, we gave it a test and the laser guide wasn't working right. I now regret not putting more energy into fixing that, because it would have again made her the coolest kid in her class with the coolest toy. But she was kind of that way anyway, so it's moot now.
Some day, I must really clean out all the crap I have in storage at my mom's house. Now I'm going through crap at the office (18 years worth). I should go through the crap I have at the bungalow (4 years worth). Then my mom's (45 years worth). There's some good crap.
