Oh man, my head hurts. It's a Beyonce hangover.
In the end, I gotta give Formation a big 'meh'. Beyonce is still a startling talent and those legs, wow, can she dance. But the show didn't work for me in the end. I didn't have a single moving moment. That's weird because I think I liked the message she was putting out with her music, but I couldn't really grasp it all because I was working after all. Perhaps she just doesn't quite move to the stadium show so well, and should stick with arenas. More likely, it was Levi's. I hate Levi's.
Levi's is a freakin nazi stadium 'Oh, we held Superbowl 50 so the sun shines out of our ass' Not even. RM is classified as 'employees' because they don't have a box for volunteers. Employees are not permitted to take photos or selfies once past the metal detectors, not allowed to buy merch, and not even allowed to buy over priced concessions. (fortunately a friend snuck me backstage for vittles, because the provided employee box 'lunch' was a hot dog, chips and a cookie. These are all grounds for ejection. We get free parking in the $50 a space Yellow lot across the street, but that means we have to wait until everyone leaves before we can leave, and then the traffic flow spits us out in a weird part of San Jose, miles from the freeway. We have to wear uniforms. We have photo ID. I was pissed that I got one this year because that means I didn't get the temp ID. The photo ID gets me into the whole season. The temp ID has the show's name on it, along with my name. There's no way I'll remember what show I was at without laminates (except the notes I keep here). I hate this venue.
Venue aside, ordinarily I leave a good show with a few earworms. This time, my earworms are Halo (which I didn't hear her sing, if she did), Bam-Bam (a reggae classic from Sister Nancy that she sampled), and Purple Rain.
I really wanted to be impressed by her again. But no... not this time.
