Symbiosis @ Woodward reservoir
#2
So let's see. I left work early and carpooled with a good friend and partner in crime. We hit horrid traffic despite leaving early and it wound up taking twice as long as predicted. The sun was setting so we parked and scrambled to pitch our tents before dark. Once my tent was up, I went on my first call. It was a large nekkid sweaty IPR. I was on the call with one of the newer EMTs who has been emerging as an RM leader, nice guy but I don't really know him very well, alongside a ranger (ala burning man) and a zendo volunteer (zendo is a psychedelic harm reduction group that also does burning man - symbiosis is a burning man after party). The IPR kept saying 'time out' and was punching through car windshields. We took him down on walnut-sized gravel - actually that EMT did most of the heavy lifting. I guess he was listening during my in-services as he executed a nice soft takedown, as soft as could be in gravel. Then we wrassled in the gravel until more help came. I was thankful that all I got was two minor cuts on my hand and bruised elbows. The IPR was cut on his elbows but we suspect that was prior to the takedown. Nevertheless, a few hours later, I realized I should change my shirt as it was spattered with blood. That was a rough start to the show. That IPR would keep us occupied for most of the night until the chemical restraints finally took hold.

Once that was done, DM ran amuck for most of the rest of the night. This place was a massive psychedelic playground - multiple soundsystems, art projects, sculptures, so much to trip on. DM got lost in several soundsystems, but he wasn't tracking the DJs because it was just too overwhelming. They said it was 8K in attendance, but I'd guess it was 3 to 4 times that. RM was way understaffed. DM made it to the JNK sacred hour (4:20 AM) then crashed for a few hours.
