A Christmas Carol is one of my fav things about Xmas. Luv that tale.
A Christmas Carol @ Geary Theater 12/27/14
We splurged on a room at the St. Francis last weekend - an Xmas SF getaway. S got us booked for only a small fortune through priceline. We figured we'd get a crappy room without a view, but they gave us a 'preferred customer' room, a corner with two vast windows on the 29th floor with a view of the entire NE side from the Golden Gate to the Si valley. That room was maybe a yard shorter than our entire bungalow.
The Geary production of CC was amusing. They went for a comedic musical interpretation with lots of dancing kids. Scrooge was a ham. But it's all about the ghosts for me. Marley was too Beetlejuice. Past was awesome, swinging in from the top of stage, although her brilliant light effect was weak. Present was a wiccan woman that totally didn't work. And my other key critical point for CC, ignorance and want, was played out as street fighting punks - that didn't work either. Future was a giant dementor puppet. That was good. We had balcony front row seats. It was cheery.
Then we went back to the room to enjoy the view.
