It's a wacky anime. I get its appeal, but I can't quite describe it all yet. Sailor Moon is a really funny character - that's a lot of it. A lot of guys seem to have issues with it as it feels like a gateway anime to hentai, and mrs. dm constantly busts on it for not having good feminist values (a major point of contention in our bungalow as it does have a lot of grrl power overtones too). The villains are really fay. WTH? SM Crystal is moving a lot slower with the episode releases, but it's a lot slicker and moves really quickly through the story which makes me wonder how far they will go with it.
Just be glad I'm not a brony. One of my old Kung Fu brothers is a brony. That's weird.
