...I recant a little of what I said before. I can see where this would work better as a book and why it is popular as an educational tool. I was taking the film at face value, which is somewhat mediocre considering how many dystopian teen films there are. But the story actually reaches for something deeper on a metaphoric level. It can be interpreted as the loss of childhood innocence, the understanding of the necessity of evil for there to be good, the beauty and harshness of the real world. T and I had a good father/daughter chat about it last night.
