It's the sequel to Fairytopia and I'm pleased to report that while the Barbie franchise surely has the bank to use state of the art CG animation, they've stuck to that cheap, low level stuff that made Fairytopia work. I mean really, Barbie is a doll. She should move stiffly. Her flesh should look plastic and unnatural. And her whole world should be so too. This is a true sequel, picking up right where Fairytopia left off (and opening the door for another sequel). What is it about little girls and mermaids? Even my wife can't explain it to me. The previews reveal that even more Barbie DVDs are coming in the fall - 12 Princesses, which looks like a lot of classical music and ballet, and Barbie's Diary, which capture Barbie forming a rock band in high school. I can hardly wait. Oh, and there's also a live tour of Fairytopia coming.
Greg and I met Barbie once. It was in between meeting Spiderman and Captain America. Maybe Greg can post those pictures someday...
