I met him a couple times at AFS (as Gene recalls). Nice, normal fencer-guy, really pleasant and smart. I did knock him out of a big SoCal foil tournament back in the day. I hope he drops by the shop.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
