Charles Selberg, one of the great West Coast fencing masters, died a couple weeks ago. He was the guy responsible for UC Santa Cruz's rep for quality fencers.
I attended one of his weekend clinics and still use his "phases of learning" when talking about teaching with new coaches. Haggis Killer and I almost got frost bite in his secret mountain fortress, but that is a long story.
RIP, Charlie -- they definitely don't make 'em like you any more.

In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
