so this is zhang lipeng, a major shaolin monk who disrobed, defected to NYC (back when monks had to defect), married, and started making indie flicks. when i first went to shaolin, he had just left. we met years later and became friends. he was featured on the PBS doc i worked on, as well as our cover. y'all might remember him from our 10th anniversary gala.
