...but I know
...where I've been.
We got up to Orr Hot Springs last week for a night. It's an off-the-web hot springs near Ukiah. Ukiah also has Vichy, which boasts being the fav spot of Jack London back in the day, but now is a high-end spa with a rather mediocre tub area. Orr, however, is very nice. There are private tubs, clawfoot no less, along with two shallow communals by some nice bamboo, a pool-sized cold plunge that is built into the natural rock, dry sauna and steam bath.
We went earlier this year and it rained. I sat in the communal, which emptied out quickly, and had a minor epiphany. This trip was just a two-day, one night raid, way too short. There's these two clawfoot tubs up high on a deck, one of which I fell asleep in. It's great water at Orr, not too sulphurish or minerally.
But I spent way too much time relaxing. After we got back, I had to spend two days napping to recover.
