And back to Earth. I will not be going to Boston for a film festival. They actually sent me two letters to make sure I knew I wasn't invited.

Dear Greg,
Thank you for submitting your film to the 42nd Boston Film Festival.  We regret that we will not be including your film in the 2026 Boston Film Festival program.  The accomplishment of writing, directing and producing a movie is an outstanding triumph.  It is not an easy feat to bring a project from concept through to production.  We applaud your dedication and appreciate the trust you placed in the BFF to view your film.

Our screening committee enjoys the opportunity to view the films and carefully considers each project.  It is challenging to choose the final films for the festival program as the quality of films submitted are very good. 

We analyze each film based on its story development, performance, direction, cinematography, sound, editing, production design, score, and topic diversity.  There are so many films that succeed in all the categories.  However, the schedule is limited.

Thank you for the opportunity to watch your film.  We wish you great success as you move forward.  We hope you will consider the BFF for your future projects.

Starting the week off in the typical fashion with a rejection letter. I will not be going to Bushwick in New York. Through almost six months of research, I have come to the conclusion, if I haven't heard from the Film Festival by the announcement deadline, I am not getting into that particular festival. Go ahead, world, prove me wrong.  More announcements due this week.

Yay! Will you get to speak at this?

I don't think so. It's still a bit sketch. They are still accepting submissions while also planning the line-up of accepted films.

I'd like to do a Q&A, to get that full film festival/filmmaker experience, but at the moment I'm still happy to be screening at TCL. I'll take what they give me.

One of the things they could tell me about or give me schedule for is an awards ceremony. It would be kind of nice to know about so I can make more plans.

BTW, I mentioned this to Gigi Oh when I visited TC last Monday. She sends her hearty congratulations and is even thinking of heading down to attend it. I said I'd forward details when it gets closer. Keep in mind that GM Tu is her master, but I think she'll be in Japan during the festival. Ironically, she's heading out right when I come back. She's doing a cruise to celebrate some birthdays of her siblings.

I sent an email to Mrs. GM Tu telling her about the screening at Indiewood. I had a little trepidation about her wanting to attend with the rest of the gang, but I did offer to send her 10 tickets. She replied wondering if there was a way to get more.

She is very excited to attend.

That's awesome. Is there a direct link anywhere that shows your doc in the line up? I was hoping to post it on the KFM forum.

I wish I could make it myself but I suspect I will be broke coming back from Japan.
