Slash belched in my face once. It was at shoreline. G&R were opening for Iron Maiden (I think it was) and I was working the pit (front of stage). I turned around to see Slash right behind me and he cut loose a monster belch. Then he tucked into one of the planter boxes near the side of stage, where he polished off a half bottle of Jack he was carrying, until some fans spotted him and went over. Then he retreated backstage.

Of the 2026 Oscar nominees, I’ve only seen Train Dreams, Frankenstein & K-Pop Demon Hunters.

I've seen Sinners and about half of One Battle After Another. I'll try and get a few more in before the show like Frankenstein and Train Dreams.

Sinners & One Battle are both in my queue.

And you saw K-Pop Demon Hunters. Before me no less. So kudos on that.

Watched Train Dreams last night. I enjoyed it and found it a bit touching. It was about a guy in the Pacific Northwest who works mostly as a logger, and follows his life. I doubt it will win anything. It was deliberately slow moving and there are long stretches with no dialogue, but some voice overs. William H. Macy has a short role and is good, not as hammy as he sometimes is. Cinematography was good; lots of lush forest scenes. Maybe not DOOM recommended unless you want something sort of quiet.

Did not watch the Grammys, but just saw in the Merc that they gave Fela a lifetime achievement award. A little late on that.

After the opening homage to Weapons, the show was dullsvilles. The monologue was poor. There were no big surprises. Some of the speeches were fun, notably Michael B. Jordan's. It had to be the longest Oscar show ever. We had recorded it to fast forward through he commercials but it was still getting close to bed time with no end in sight. The awards did make me want to see Sentimental Value, Secret Agent, and F1

As for One Battle After Another winning over Sinners, I just have to say no. If there were only two films in the race it would be Sinners every time. I don't know what I missed that OBAA won the Oscar.

I agree with Greg. Not a good show, and wrong big winner. And I still say Train Dreams should have won best picture. Or at least cinematography. It looked great.

I just watched YouTubes of the Golden acceptances, Jordan's acceptance and Grogu. I wasn't that into it this year. Sounds like that's just as well.

Number 1 film on HBO is Sinners. OBAA is fourth.
