Ep 18 was an hour long and it was really good. The season is down to one game. If they win, they get promoted to the next level in British Soccer. It's been fifteen years since Wrexham have been at that level and the town and the team hunger for it. It's a big status thing. The episode covers that game intertwined with stories from the players and the fans and what winning or losing will mean for them. And the way the whole sixty minutes was put together was riveting. They also had Rob and Ryan in the stands living and dying by the score. The show was extremely emotional and a roller coaster ride. I feel really invested in this stupid Welsh football team because of it.

Season 2 drops Sept 12. They better not make it exclusive to Hulu.
A lot of the drama, I think, will be gone for this season since I now follow the results of the team. Still going to watch.

S02 Ep01 Time to meet the king and recap the last season and see what is up for this season. The team has problems and needs outside funding is the dramatic point upon which this episode turns. It was a really fun and funny episode. I'm glad the show has returned. The only problem is, because I follow the team, I know what happens to the team. Still worth watching.

Ep 4 soured me on Rob McElhenney. He looks like an entitled rich asshole who thinks he can do whatever he wants, never mind what trouble it causes for anyone else. It was telling that he couldn't see why showing some people the game could possibly be a problem. And he pretty much wrecked that guy's vacation. (I have to call him "that guy" since I'm not exactly sure what his job is - maybe keeping them out of trouble - and I can't remember his name.) And the fact that the show seemed to be playing it for laughs bothered me. I'll keep watching, but now the show is better when we see less of the owners.

Wrexham 'that guy', better known as Shaun Harvey is basically the brains of the club. He ran several clubs and was picked to help out for several months before handing the club over to stay permanently. He never left.
I still really like the show. It's one of our appointment shows for the week. I thought the episode they did on the Women's Wrexham club was nicely done. I can't wait to watch Ep07 tonight.

Ep07 All about the FA cup and how well Wrexham performed. Another really good episode. I do like the meta nature of how the documentary itself comes up in the documentary as people relate differently to Wrexham now because of the documentary. I should probably stop following the team on social media because I know how most of the story lines play out. Thankfully, my memory is bad because I forget a lot of stuff as well.

Two more episodes, although the second one didn't record and we had to watch it like peasants with commercials. Ugh.
The first episode was the recap of Wrexham needing to play 9 matches in under a month and they did a good job at that. There was also a Will Ferrell sighting which freaked out the team. They also followed a fan who is trying to turn his life around. It got Meta as he explained how being on the show impacts his life.
The next episode details the hiring of a new goalie after their main goalie is injured yet again. They bring in a premiere league player who has recently retired to be the new number 1 with potential friction for the goalie demoted to #2 goalie but who has been carrying the team for most of the season.
All good and wholesome.

Ep10 The coal mining disaster that killed 226 men. Still remembered and honored by the team.
Ep11 The woman's team fight to win their division and then they fight to win the league. If they win the league, they get promoted. If they get promoted, they get paid. They also hold a match where the most people ever attend a women's football match in Wales.

The Episode where Wrexham plays their biggest rival, Nott's County. Both teams are having great season. Wrexham is known for making life hard for itself which they do in this episode. The winner of the game will most likely win the league and get promoted to the next division in English Football. Tension. Drama. So much sportsball.

The penultimate episodes. One is maudlin about father's and sons or mother's and sons and goes through the challenges the players have with their parents. The second half-hour concerned how much money Rob and Ryan were spending coupled with a big game coming up against an inferior squad that could be a trap game. If they win, Wrexham is one step closer to promotion.
Next week, we find out if the team wins and gets promoted back into the premiere league for the first time in 15 years. I've known the answer to this question because I follow the team on twitter and this game happened last spring.

Season 4 is upon us! Too bad I know how the season ends because I watched the last match of the season over the weekend. May 15 is the premiere.
