Win-win

It's a high school wrestling moving starring Paul Giamatti and Jeffrey Tambor. I should have stopped there. But no. I fell under the spell of the reviews of others and put in the queue.

Giamatti plays a lawyer and wrestling coach in a small town in Rhode Island. He's broke and he's scamming the courts to get money to pay his bills. It is not so much of a scam as he agrees to take care of an old man at the old man's house (Played by Burt Young) and instead puts him a retirement home and pockets the checks. The old man's grandson shows up on the run from his abusive mother's boy friend while his mother is in rehab. Ah, melodrama.

Giamatti plays his usual sad sack role. He takes the kid into his house and surprise, the kid is a wrestling phenom. The kid saves the team until he finds out how Giamatti is cheating his grandfather. The mother shows up, too, to get her slice of the old man's money.

It's sad and gets sadder. But in the end we all learn a valuable lesson.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

Thank goodness for all these valuable lessons in bad movies. Otherwise, they wouldn't be worth watching.
