Song Sung Blue (2026)
#1
Thunder and Lightning join up to be a Neil Diamond tribute band in Michigan starring Huge Jackman and Kate Hudson. If you like to sing along to a movie with Neil Diamond songs, this could be the movie for you. Huge does his usual overacting. Kate does a weird Michigander accent that comes and goes. For the first part of the film, I was kind of curious why these stars would sign on for what seems to be a mid-level biopic. But the film goes places I didn't expect it to go. There is a lot of drama and unexpected events on the journey of Lightning and Thunder.

I can't think of Doomers for whom this film would appeal. But I did recommend it to the Queen Mum and she loved it. It really should have been the Queen and her watching it together and reveling in their shared love of Neil.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

I can’t explain the love of Neil Diamond that my mom bequeathed me, but the love of Neil is a thing, and the movie totally gets it. I thought that Kate Hudson’s accent sounded a little too much like the sherriff Marge in the movie Fargo, but it never took me out of the movie. I cried a lot and I sang along, and I totally “got” the characters that also “got” the love of Neil. There’s just something about these incredibly simple tunes and some of the words/sentiments that just bring you in and make you part of something for a few moments. Sadly, there are fewer and fewer things that make me feel that way.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I share a fondness for Neil. He wrote some great songs. And did some great covers as well.
