Caught the first two episodes. It's very soapy but enjoyable. Lots of different threads from family interactions to political ones. Even some religious problems because this is Ireland. The guy in charge of building the barrels for Guinness and also the family fixer, Sean Rafferty is the best character so far. So much malevolence. The show does get a bit mumbly at times. I almost turned on closed captioning.
I played the game of "I wonder where they filmed that" because some of it looks accurate and some of it is shite and some times the logic doesn't quite work. But I am enjoying it. You might have to be a hibernophile to get anything out of it, but there is some good class and family struggles going on.

I feel there should be a drinking game associated with this show.
I’ll check this out soon.

‘Each of you grab a means of persuasion’
With that early line, I’m all in for the bestest ad Guinness has made yet (and Guinness has made some great ads - like the Book of World Records)

I’m partial to the “Bet on Black” snail race ad…the music is so catchy.

That’s a great one, tg
I gotta go with the naughtiest one - Share a Guinness with a friend - I still can’t believe they did this.

A quible. I know they are using a lot of contemporary music to good effect. But to use "Come out, ye Black and Tans" which is about very specific period, mainly the 1920s, seemed a bit wrong to me.

And Cliffhanger! Of course. They must be pretty sure they will get a pick up for season two. Overall, it is a really well done show. I really think the enforcer Rafferty, needs his own show. He is really good. It's amazing how unhappy everyone is and it's all an unhappiness of their own and partially societies making. I did find out the show was shot in the North of England and Wales. Nothing in Ireland. It's funny to see the instagram that Rafferty keeps. All the cast is smiling and joking something you never see on screen. Everyone is sober and frowning. Or the smiles are ones to cover up pain.
SPOILER
The best bit still was:
We can hit him over the head with a shovel.
Let him dig the hole first.
