Stay Close (2019) by Arthur Clement and Shuhan Fan
A 19-minute short about the trials and tribulations of a young black fencer (Keeth Smart) on a very rocky road trying to make the Olympics.
A blend of live footage and animation. There's not much footage of him in his development years because, well, he came from a poor family. Still, the animation works well to fill in the blanks. Very inspirational.
The Voice Thief (2013) by Adan Jodorowsky
A 22-minute short about an opera singer who loses her voice and her husband's frantic attempts to recover it by supernatural means in Miami's dark underworld.
Sexy, perverse, strange, does justice to the Jodorowsky brand. Stars Asia Argento as well as two Jodorowskys who are not the director.
The Jodorowkys and Argentos seem to be in a spitting contest to see which family can produce the most actors.
I watched Stay Close and then The Voice Thief last night for an enjoyable double feature of shorts.
Why does this board group my posts together if they're consecutive to the same thread, even if I give them distinct subject lines (the second subject line just gets ignored).
